About Nora
Growing up in Hingham, Massachusetts, my favorite part of going back to school was the new box of crayons I’d get each fall. And through high school, I took every art class I could.
When heading off to college, I knew I would major in a fine art discipline and thought painting was the best direction for me to head in. But after just one semester not being behind a wheel and throwing clay, I learned that ceramic art is my true passion.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts at Syracuse University. While there I also spent countless hours on Lake Onondaga as member of the women’s varsity rowing team. After graduation I left for rural Appomattox, Virginia for The Cub Creek Foundation for the Ceramic Arts. Moving to the sticks was a big change, but I grew to appreciate the slower pace of life, the beautiful countryside and, most of all, the luxury of completely immersing myself in creating art.
I’m now happy to be back home in Boston, starting an exciting a new role as a ceramics teacher at Nobles & Greenough School in Dedham, MA. I’m excited to share my passion for ceramics, and hope to learn a bit from the students myself.
Beside ceramics, another great love in my life is food and I’m really enjoying being home cooking and eating with friends and family.
My medium of choice now is mud, but I still love the possibilities that come with a box of new crayons.
